If you’ve been in the Kdrama-verse for any length of time, then Bae Suzy literally doesn’t need an introduction.
This talented 28-year-old female actress, model, musician, and MC has appeared in some of the biggest productions, and I believe I once heard her referred to as the “princess of Hallyu” and she’s the nation’s first love.
From her beginnings as an online shopping model to her debut with the girl group “Miss A,” there are simply plenty of reasons to love her and as a devoted member of her fanbase, I can tell you for a fact that just an angel.
She has won many awards for her acting and even released her solo album “Yes? No?” before making a splendid comeback in 2022 with the song “Satellite.”
I love the clear conscious effort she takes to avoid being typecast in roles, and I can tell you for a fact that she bodied her role in all the Kdramas in this post.
In this post, I’ll be listing some of the best Korean dramas this boundlessly talented actress starred in.
1. Vagabond (2019)
In the drama, Bae Suzy played the role of Go Hae Ri, a National Intelligence agent whose mission is to assist the families affected by a tragic plane crash in finding justice.
She soon crosses paths with Cha Dal Gun, who has suffered the loss of his nephew in the same incident, and they decide to join forces to expose the truth behind the devastating crash, all the while battling corrupt politicians.
I usually say this whenever I recommend Vagabond, but this drama made me so, so, so angry at the government – Imagine the entire government teaming up to frustrate one person – just imagine!
Bae Suzy stunned in this role, and if you’ve ever wondered if the nation’s princess can hold her own in an action/thriller drama, you’ll enjoy this one.
2. Anna (2022)
This time around, Bae Suzy plays the role of Lee Yu Mi, the female lead of this drama, whose life hasn’t exactly been all sunshine and rainbows.
She’s stuck in a less-than-ideal situation with a husband who thinks he owns her, but, Yu Mi isn’t one to sit idly by.
To escape the clutches of her oppressive reality, she decides to ditch her true identity and start anew, and you’ll be amazed at how Suzy Bae brings the feisty, determined spirit of Lee Yu Mi to life, proving that sometimes, reinventing yourself is the ultimate act of liberation.
This is another fantastic achievement that really does prove Bae Suzy’s versatility, and if I didn’t like Bae Suzy before watching this drama (I definitely did), I would have fallen completely in love.
3. Start-up (2020)
In the drama, Bae Suzy plays the role of Seo Dal Mi, a young woman with aspirations of becoming Korea’s Steve Jobs.
Having been abandoned by her mother and sister, she has a strong desire to succeed as an entrepreneur, but, her journey takes an unexpected turn when she becomes entangled in a love triangle.
This is one of the Bae Suzy Kdramas that quite literally took the world by storm, and you don’t want to miss it.
4. While You Were Sleeping (2017)
This drama follows Nam Hong Ju (played by Bae Suzy), a girl blessed with the ability to see future events and accidents in her dreams.
Alongside her, Lee Jong Suk shines as Prosecutor Jung Jae Chan and it turns out he also can tell her future from dreams – Jung Hae In is the SML in this drama!
As fate would have it, they find themselves dreaming about each other, and they decide to join hands to prevent Hong Ju’s nightmares from manifesting in real life.
While You Were Sleeping perfectly blends romance and thrills, and it’s one of the best Korean dramas starring Bae Suzy – you can really tell that she gave her all to this drama.
5. Gu Family Book (2013)
Suzy plays Dam Yeo Wool, a skilled archer and martial arts expert who falls in love with Choi Kang Chi (Lee Seung Gi), a unique being who is a half-human and half-mythical creature in this fantasy Kdrama.
Together, they start a journey to find the mythical ‘Gu Family Book’ and unlock the secret to turning Kang Chi into a full human.
This is one of the first Korean dramas I watched, and it’s such a fun historical romp.
Kang Chi mistakes her for a boy and the fact that she doesn’t even correct his assertion gave their romance a completely new light especially once he started falling for her.

6. Dream High (2011)
Set in the vibrant halls of Kirin High School that’s known for shaping K-pop stars and idols, Suzy Bae plays Go Hye Mi, a talented yet aloof girl.
This sweet high-school drama follows the various students as they start their incredible journey of self-discovery while thriving in the world of singing, writing, and dancing.
A coming-of-age Kdrama through and through, the characters in this endearing drama experience growth, build their dreams, and create some very awkward, tangled relationships.

7. Big (2012)
In the captivating drama, Suzy Bae plays Jang Ma Ri, a carefree girl deeply in love with Kang Kyung Joon.
When an accident causes Kang Kyung Joon’s spirit to switch bodies with successful doctor Seo Yoo Jae, the lives of Ma Ri, Yoo Jae, and high school teacher Gil Da Ran become entangled.
While Suzy Bae is only the second female lead in this drama, she was still perfect in her role, and she definitely delivered a memorable performance – I loved this one so much.
Bae Suzy is an insanely talented actress amongst other things, and if, for one reason or the other, you’ve been hesitant to watch her dramas, please give them a chance – I have a good feeling you’ll enjoy them!
