If Chinese dramas get one thing right, it’s the degree of cheesiness in them. And, I love that most of them are very content with basking in that cheesiness.
I mean, some scenes are cringey enough to elicit a groan, while some other scenes are just entirely too cutesy and charming; so much so, don’t be surprised if the sweetness gives you a toothache.
In this post, I’ve taken the liberty to list 8 amazingly delightful Chinese dramas that are just the right amount of cheesy. They’ll make you fall in love over and over and over again and I promise they’re all so good.
They’re all available on YouTube, Netflix, and Viki, with a few select ones being available on other platforms (like Apple TV, Hulu, or Disney+).
1. Love O2O
Xiao Nai falls for Bei Wei Wei at first sight (he sees her gaming) and from this point, he makes it his mission to make her life as flavorful as possible.
You guys, he protects her in the game and person and if you know how college heartthrob goes, then you probably know how swoony this drama was.
While Bei Wei Wei was popular in her own right (she had been voted the second most beautiful girl in the entire school), Xiao Nai was the silent and untouchable computer genius.
And when he made his declarations clear, he went big – showing her affections publicly (which made her blush), going everywhere with her (which made her heart somersault), and helping her in whatever way she needed (which made her tumble headfirst into the deepest love).

2. Love Me Love My Voice
Gu Sheng is always transported whenever she listens to Qiang Qing Ci’s voice (he’s a musician and voice actor) and after several encounters that lead to them dating, she’s even more head over heels.
You guys, Qiang Qing Ci’s method of seduction is cooking platter after platter and I absolutely fell along with Gu Sheng. It was inevitable, really.
As cheesy as can be, I absolutely adored this because they had the kind of chemistry some people (like me) can only dream about and that’s a win no matter how you look at it.
3. Amidst A Snowstorm of Love
When I watched this drama, I honestly told my friend not to even watch the first episode if they weren’t in a committed relationship. Why? Leo Wu has the most soulful eyes and he literally looked at Zhao Jin Mai as if she hung the moon.
The plot of this drama is fairly simple: she’s an upcoming billiard pro while he dunked out of the rat race years ago. When they meet, she inspires him to find his happiness again and this he does by standing by her side to compete.
Their romance is literally the sweetest thing I’ve ever seen and I always, always remember them whenever I think about characters who had the most amazing chemistry. Leo Wu was a goner for our girl from the first instance and he was so cheesy while trying to date her.

4. Only For Love
I know, I know I said this wasn’t my favourite drama, but I can admit that the cheesiness of the drama was so incredibly inspiring to me and my homegirls.
Dylan Wang is a fantastic actor, so imagine the combo with Bai Lu – Literally the answer to the prayers of their many fans.
They were both so cheesy with each other, that it was almost hard not to run into the street and find myself a young, healthy man to settle down with.
5. A Date With The Future
Shi Chuan saved Xu Lai from an earthquake 10 years ago and she made up her mind to find him again. She does this, but when they meet, he’s clear about boundaries but she wears him down. In less than a few months, he was head over heels for her.
The progression of their romance in this drama was awe-inspiring – one minute they were apart and the next dating – but aside from that, they were the most annoying lovebirds.
Always gravitating towards each other, being over-sweet with each other, and just being entirely too lovely. While inputting the cheesiness, it seems they forgot that a good part of their audience are single pringles.
Even I, a self-proclaimed hater couldn’t find anything to hate about them and that was…surprisingly good to see. Our boy was so helplessly in love with her and it was great to see him become voluntarily cheesy the minute he realised he was completely whipped.

6. Got A Crush On You
And then, there’s Qing Che who essentially defines the concept of being whipped. My boy saw her for the first time and from then on, he couldn’t take his eyes off her.
I’d like to say that all the characters in this drama were deliciously whipped and it was almost delightfully nauseating to witness (as a…single pringle).
To pursue Xing Chen, our boy went through fire and back and there’s even a scene where he flexed his pecs to seduce her. He was so painfully determined to make her his girlfriend that he jumped through all her cheese-covered hoops and emerged the whippedest of the whipped.
And, that’s a wrap!
Have you watched any good Chinese dramas lately that inspired you to fall in love? I know I have and preventing the cheesiness from clouding my brain is essentially a day job.
