The plot revolves around two members of a syndicate as they navigate the complex underworld of the mafia. Damien and Winter share similar backgrounds, having been trained to protect their priorities; one for family and the other for money and loyalty.
Their paths cross at Monarch Academy, leading to an unspoken competition to outdo each other and quell the growing attraction between them.
After failing to apprehend the killer of her father and brother, it becomes Winter’s responsibility to bring justice. The author’s masterful characterization and writing style made this story a captivating read that I thoroughly enjoyed.
What captivated me the most about this book was the way it maintained the mafia storyline right up until the end, with numerous twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat as the characters found themselves in constant danger.
However, while it was very interesting, Winter’s statement when they got together that she would never bow before him caught me off guard. It felt sudden and left me somewhat confused, especially when, later on, she clarified that the only reason she was giving him oral sex was that they were now married.
Despite this, the book was an engaging read, with a thrilling mix of suspense and romance that kept me hooked until the very last page.
