10 Wuxia Chinese Dramas With Intense Martial Arts You Will Love

I grew up watching old Chinese flicks with leads with kickboxing skills that absolutely made my heart spin.

It’s been a hot minute since I watched any wuxia dramas centred around martial artists, so I wrote up some of my favorite pieces that anyone would love.

You probably already know this, but they’re largely called wuxia dramas and the primary difference between them and xianxia dramas is that the latter consist of much more fantastical elements.

These martial arts Chinese dramas mix romance with action and thrills with amazing martial choreography and they’re simply stunning.

1. The Untamed

This drama follows the bond between two brothers torn apart at birth who overcome many obstacles and enemies to protect each other and their world.

It’s available to watch on Netflix with complete English subtitles and if you like swashbuckling heroes with martial arts skills that will leave you breathless, give this one a chance.

2. The Legend of the Condor Heroes

The Legend of the Condor Heroes follows the love story of Guo Jing and Huang Rong, two martial arts heroes who fight against the Mongol invasion of China.

This is another fantastic historical martial arts Chinese drama and it’s easily one of the most popular dramas released in recent times.

3. New Smiling Proud Wanderer

In this drama, Li Xian is a young man who travels across China to learn martial arts and find his destiny.

You’ll love watching his adventures and it was simply one of the most interesting pieces I’ve watched in a long time — it helped that the martial arts choreography was on another level as well.

4. Heroes

Four friends who are all martial arts prodigies and have different personalities and goals are the focus of this beautiful Cdrama.

5. God of Lost Fantasy

Ye Xiu is a young man who is transported to a fantasy world, and when he gets there, he becomes a powerful martial artist and faces various challenges.

6. Word of Honor

This drama follows the master of Listening Snow Tower and the woman that he loves.

He is a martial arts expert known to be a dragon among men while she is a former princess turned political strategist

7. Legend of Fei

Zhou Fei is the granddaughter of a national hero who was forced to become a bandit to serve the greater good.

For 20 years, her grandfather, then her mother, was charged with running a secret organization that trained assassins to help the people.

Needless to say, she’s so badass and I had so much fun watching this martial arts Chinese drama.

8. Heavenly Sword and Dragon Slaying Sabre

This is the last part of the trilogy which began with Legend of the Condor Heroes and continued in Return of the Condor Heroes.

This time around, Heavenly Sword and Dragon Slaying Sabre takes place nearly 100 years after the events of Return of the Condor Heroes in China ruled by the Mongolian Yuan Dynasty.

9. The Blood of Youth

Xiao Se is a hidden prince who runs an inn where he meets Wu Xin, a martial artist and a prince from another kingdom.

So, they team up with other young heroes to solve mysteries, fight enemies, and find love in this amazing wuxia drama adventure.

10. The Flame’s Daughter

Lie Ruge is the heiress of Liehuo Pavilion, a martial arts sect, and somehow, she gets involved in a complicated love triangle with three men: Yin Xue, a mysterious immortal who loves her unconditionally; Zhan Feng, her childhood friend and fiancé who betrays her; and Yu Zihan, a loyal and gentle prince who supports her.
